Food Tourism
Information and best practise sharing is important to agrifood entrepreneurs and an essential part of our sector culture. Information sharing allows for innovation and efficiency, avoiding duplication and allowing new ideas to emerge.
Culinary and Agrifood Tourism
Agritourism is where agriculture and tourism meet to provide you with an amazing educational experience, whether it be a tour of a farm, a festival or a cheese-making class. Agri-food entrepreneurs turn their business into a destination and open their doors to the public in order to teach more about what they do.
Agritourism is becoming increasingly popular throughout the world. Destinations across the NWT offer unique experiences ranging from picnicking with Alpacas in Fort Smith, to coffee cupping in Yellowknife, to hydroponic farm tours in Hay River. There are many unique Agritourism activities waiting to be explored in the NWT.
The Territorial Agri-food Association hosts an annual Culinary Festival in Yellowknife in July and works with members to develop and promote their agri and culinary tourism products in all NWT regions.
